Isn't that the standard for big bangs? I mean, I was gonna set comicsbigbang at 20K until advised to go lower. (And I wrote 47K, so clearly that meant nothing to me. And that was the short version.)

Big Bangs started at 40K. It got lowered commonly to 20K pretty quickly, or occasionally 25K; I've seen a few in the 15K range. But 10K isn't even technically a novella: it's still in short story range, and I really have no idea where the idea that it was a good Big Bang length came from--I mean, the entire concept behind the Big Bang series was to promote truly epic-length stories when length was starting to drop off again.

Probably 'cause too many people are missing deadlines or dropping out, or not signing up at all, hence the runners of BBs keep dropping the required word count. But I agree. Once you start dropping the word count that low, you should not be calling yourself a Big Bang.
